For decades one of the major limitations of travel to Russia was the difficult process of acquiring a travel visa to enter the Russian Federation.

The long process of getting a Russian visa is finally in the past! From the beginning of 2021 a unified electronic visa has been introduced for 52 countries (a list of all the countries is at the end of the article).

Below learn what is so convenient about the new e-visa and how you can get it.*

*We should note that the English speaking countries (U.S.A., Canada, Australia etc.) are unfortunately not on this list but you can learn more about the process of getting a respective visa from those countries here.

Background

The law on electronic visas for foreigners was adopted by the State Duma on July 31, 2020. The Russian government sees the introduction of a unified electronic visa to Russia as a leverage to boost the development of tourism, increase foreign investment and contribute to the countries overall economic growth.
